IBANs are primarily used in Europe. However, several countries outside of Europe, specifically in the Middle East, Africa, and Asia, have also adopted the system.
Examples of countries that adopt IBANs. The codes in brackets represent the two letters of the IBAN for that country:
- Europe: United Kingdom (GB), Germany (DE), France (FR), Spain (ES), Italy (IT), Netherlands (NL), Greece (GR), Switzerland (CH), and many more.
- Middle East: Saudi Arabia (SA), Bahrain (BH), Kuwait (KW), Qatar (QA), Jordan (JO)
- Africa: Morocco (MA), Egypt (EG), and South Africa (ZA)
- Asia: Israel (IL) and Turkey (TR)
